The majority of my canvases are now made by myself, on receiving the raw canvas and decide on the paintings size, I cut the cotton and fit to stretcher bars and then stretch. Once I'm happy I apply the modern equivalent of rabbit skin glue which soaks into the fibres and tightens them further, then I size the canvas with a sealer which prevents the oil soaking through and finally three coats of gesso, in all it takes 3 to 4 days to prepare a canvas depending on the drying times of each application.

I try and photograph my paintings where possible in natural light, this gives as accurate a colour rendition as possible but please note depending on your computer, tablet or phone settings colours may vary.
